The first three nights of your “Highlights of Botswana” round trip you are staying at the luxurious Shinde Camp. It is found on a palm island on the edge of Shinde lagoon in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta.
The unique treehouse of the main camp offers stunning views of the reed-covered waterways that provide a home to a variety of different bird species. Each of the eight classic safari tents has a private deck and offers prime views of the surrounding open grassy areas and the mysterious waterways of the Okavango Delta.
Shinde Camp has an ideal location to offer water and land activities. On a boat or traditional mokoro, guests can explore the Okavango Delta. The Okavango Delta consists of permanent water and dry areas. It is home to a great variety of animals such as reptiles and bird species.
Adventure lovers can continue to explore this natural wonder on foot or a leisurely game drive in an off-road vehicle together with a qualified guide. Last but not least, you can also try your luck at fishing and catch tilapia or tiger fish.
Your “Highlights of Botswana” round trip continues with a short scenic flight to Khwai. Upon arrival at the Khwai airstrip, you will be warmly welcomed. The transfer to your accommodation for the following nights is already a game drive. The Khwai Concession is operated by the local community and finds its location on the Khwai River to the east of the Moremi Game Reserve.
The river represents the border between the municipality and the reserve. It is the only source of water in the region and thus attracts a lot of animal life from far away.
The romantic camp has no permanent building constructions. In this way, it is assured that you can leave everything without a trace as you found it. Nature can regenerate quickly. Khwai Camp has six luxurious Meru-style tents and can accommodate a total of 12 guests. There is also a cottage for families.
Guests can take part in a night game drive to discover the nocturnal animals, which can hardly be found in daylight. Furthermore, there is the possibility of a game walk, on which you can get even closer to wildlife. Of course, the camp also offers day safaris in an off-road vehicle. There is much to see in the Khwai concession: lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, HIppos, and often wild dogs and leopards.
On the morning of the seventh day of your trip, you’ll return to the Shinde airstrip and fly to the Saile Airstrip. You will be picked up and transferred through the Chobe Enclave to Linyanti Bush Camp. Here you will spend the last three nights of your highlights Botswana round trip.
The small camp consists of only six luxurious tents and offers space for a total of twelve guests. Each tent is ideally located to guarantee great views of the Linyanti Marsh. The camp is in a private reserve bordering Chobe National Park to the west. Linyanti Bush Camp is perfectly designed for small and exclusive groups looking for a personalized experience in a private concession away from the main tourist streams.
The area around Linyanti Bush Camp is known for its large herds of elephants and buffalo, which gather here especially in the dry season. There are also lions, leopards and wild dogs. In addition, the rare Sitatunga antelope can be found here, as well as hippos and crocodiles.
In the dry months, the Linyanti swamps are the only source of water for miles, making it one of the most attractive areas in the park. A lot is in motion here and thus there is a great variety of animals. Ornithologists love it here, too, because the bird sightings are worthwhile all year round. Activities include game drives, game walks, bird watching, night safaris, fishing and safaris in a Mokoro boat.
